New Forest-Countryside Education Trust

We had a lovely visit today to the elegant country house of Hinton Ampner.  It is nice that so many of these National Trust homes are quite close to us.  We especially love to see the gardens in the different seasons.

I love these flower carpeted stairs.

I love being with such a great companion everyday too!

On our last P-Day we went to New Forest where they needed volunteers to help with hay baling.  These photos were taken at a nearby beach....Lepe Country Park.

You can see the Isle of Wight in the distance.

Horses roam freely in the New Forest area.  It is not uncommon to see ponies walking down the city streets.  Every year they city sells some of them for £10.

This baby would not wake up eventhough I was standing right over him

Finally!

Then he caught sight of his mother clear across the field.

We heard that this farm needed people to help out with the hay bailing today.  It turned out that the fields were too wet and the farmer at Countryside Farm decided to wait another day before cutting the hay. The director asked her two student interns, one from Denmark and the other from Northern England, to give us a tour of the farm. School children from London and other cities board at this farm for 3- 7 days to work in a garden, learn where their food comes from, feed the amimals, clean the pig pens and have a real farm experience.

The hens go upstairs to lay their eggs. To collect them, just open the lid on the roof.
